Account email. Used only to sign you in with a magic link. We never see or store a password.
Photos you upload. Closet item photos, outfit photos submitted for critique, and inspiration/reference photos or links you provide.
Optional profile details. Body measurements (ring size, wrist size, build) if you choose to add them, and a city or location if you use weather-aware curation.
App activity. The outfits you create, wear-log dates, and favorites. The app needs these to work.
Crash reports. When something breaks, the error message, the screen you were on (without search terms), your device and browser type, and your account ID, so we can fix it.
Photos and closet details are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to identify clothing items, generate outfit critiques, curate outfit suggestions, and match inspiration photos against your closet. This is the core function of the app. None of that analysis happens without sending the relevant photo or item data to Anthropic for processing. The app asks your permission before the first photo is sent.
Photos may show your face. Hemline only analyzes the clothing. It does not identify people, build face profiles, or use faces for ads, marketing, or sign-in.
A city or set of coordinates you provide is sent to Open-Meteo to fetch weather used in outfit curation. No account or photo data is included in that request.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
If a security breach ever exposes your data, we will email you about it as the law requires.
Everything is stored in Supabase (private database and file storage). Your closet, photos, outfits, and measurements are only accessible to your own account. No other user can see them.
Hemline shares data only with the services it needs to run:
We don't use advertising trackers. Shop links to retailers (like Dossier) may be affiliate links; the retailer sees that you came from Hemline when you tap one.
You can delete any closet item, outfit, or photo directly in the app at any time. To delete your entire account and all associated data, tap Delete my account on the Account page, or contact us at the address below.
Wherever you live, you can ask to see the data Hemline has about you, get a copy of your data in a portable file, correct it, delete it, or stop any processing you've allowed (like photo analysis). California, Texas, and EU/UK residents have these rights by law; we give them to everyone.
Email the address below with "Privacy request" in the subject. We confirm who you are using your account email and answer within 45 days. Hemline does not sell or share personal data for targeted advertising, and we won't treat you differently for using your rights. If we deny a request, you can appeal by replying to our answer.
Hemline and its service providers process data in the United States. If you use Hemline from outside the U.S., your data is transferred there.
Legal bases (for EU/UK users): providing the service you asked for (your account, closet, and outfits); your consent (photo analysis by AI, optional push notifications), which you can withdraw anytime; and our legitimate interest in keeping the app secure and fixing bugs (error reports and basic analytics).
Hemline is not for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, email us and we'll delete it.
